# Host-owned appearance

Preview, publish and restore a compatible chat theme.

Version 0.1.0 · Early pilot · unreleased SDK · Reviewed 4 November 2026

## Three starting points

Native, Compact and Soft are the current preset vocabulary. The API profiles implement revisioned drafts, immutable publication history and rollback by creating a newer publication. The website’s appearance studio is an explicitly fictional interaction example. The actual workspace editor uses its API; a web approximation does not prove how a publication rendered in your native host.

## Host ownership

Resolution is built-in default → host configuration → compatible published override. Host-locked values remain local. Unsupported schema or invalid values keep a compatible fallback. The SaaS uses self-hosted Geist Serif for display, Geist Sans for interface text and Geist Mono for code. A merchant’s SDK installation does not force these brand fonts into the app.

## Native typography

The SDK defaults to host/system fonts with Dynamic Type. The Daylight example explicitly registers bundled Geist fonts and opts into them through LobbyTypography. Missing font identifiers fall back to the system; publications cannot fetch arbitrary remote fonts or run code. Geist Serif’s initial regular-weight release is used for display, not as a claim of extra weights or Arabic coverage.

## Review the real host

Check light/dark, large text, Arabic layout, focus and contrast in the installed app. The editor requires explicit Save draft and Publish actions. Autosave, richer state previews and authorized expiring device-preview links remain release work.
